MOHAN JADHAV
An Inspirational, Exhilarating, Gripping, Stimulating and a well Cultivated Persona !
He is a complete Promethean artist, with an acute sense of colour, magic, and an auratic ambiance creator. Born in Ratnagiri, 18′ Jan’ 1970. He dwelled to pursue his career in ITI Pune, with no clue where this journey was to lead him to…..
Experimenting with technology his heart still leaned towards creativity, it was like slipping into comatose and drifting away from this material world to what was like “Alice In Wonderland”.
Mohan started his landscape paintings with water colours, his paintings were demystifying colour pallete, filled with bright natural hues of the surrounding. He picked every little emotions linked with the life and nature around him and tried splashing on his paper creating – “a reason for existing”. Mohan carry’s a well balanced mind, good spirit and beautiful thinking – “Eunoia”.
He chose water colours as his medium as it was most accessible and more ever that was only affordable as canvas, oil and acrylic colours were expensive way back in the 80’s. He eventually joined Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalay to satiate his craving and passion towards art – hence Mohan entered “Metanonia” meaning, his journey of spiritual, artistic conversion from what he was.
In Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalay, Pune where he was doing his G.D. Arts he mastered in Illustration and then worked as an Illustrator in an Advertising Company, for almost five years from 1995 to 2000, but pursued his gusto with water coloured landscape paintings. From 2000 to 2003 he also probed into trying out his entrepreneur instincts by undertaking his own Ad agency, but. was soon encountered the downturn of recession and had to give up, this slump triggered him back to his paintings which gave him solace during the time of slowdown and initiated his second exhibition of water colour landscapes in 2005.
It was no looking back in time from then on, as he started to gravitate towards his inventiveness and an “Artist” was born !
His inbred quality seemed invincible when the confident strokes of the soft sable haired brush dipped in bright natural colours splashed on the handmade paper, An Enchanting display of Mother Nature was noticed. He faced obstacles and failures with these exhibitions, but he wasn’t disheartened, his fierce ability did not leave hope, he acquired, experimented and obtained a small space for exhibiting in Pune Airport. Here he started his quest in changing the ‘theme’ but not the medium of voicing the guise of his ‘Art’, These were named as a series of paintings “Lonavalacha Pavsala”- the sale was justified.
This changing theme of painting was what attracted his vision and mind laid out a delineation towards what he cherished the most happened !
His work was analytically counterfeited by himself to understand his capacity of vividity which, he forged and also wanted to create an elevated piece of art each time he painted. Thus he became the best judge to deternine his own efforts each passing day.
Mohan practically a very pragmatic person and well defined with his thoughts words and deeds, showed immense growth, recognisation, appreciation in his work.
His self derived caption of life is
W – World
C – Class
A – Artist
will be a day soon in his achievements list and sure to be applauded for his work globally.
His family consisting of his spouse and two daughters keeps him abreast of his responsibility as a doting father and a loving companion, also they altogether are his strongest strength to achieve his goal of being a WCA soon.
Trying to know his Art :- Mohan say’s “For me colour is the flow of Life ! which deviates automatically towards enriching one’s soul and touches others”
His paintings carry an era of exuberance and a paraphernalia of colours and costumes. His paintings reflects Impressionism this form of art was the 19th century art movement characterized by relatively small, thin, light visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light and form.
There is a lot of pre-prep before the colour touches the surface, Mohan has to virtually plan the entire composition from mind, vision and soul to on the paper or canvas looks. His medium being the water colours , the light and dark portions have to be systematically digitized visually as once dark colours flow the base light has to maintain its harmony with the surface dark colour, eventually layered for effects. He mostly works with bright colours e.g. Red’s, Yellow’s and Orange on the backdrop and specifically works on monochromatic colours, sometime’s using their Black and White hues matching to the Grayscale.
His most noted attribute in his paintings are, that he doesn’t use the “White” here, so the White portion has to be well thought and planned before keeping it. He is inspired by Johan Fernandes, Sameet Mondol, Alvaro Castagnet, Guan Axing and Alex Votsmush.
Off-late he has been experimenting with Oil and Acrylic on canvas with the same theme trying out masking fluids and liquids for spaces left.
To his credits are a series of paintings on Konkan, Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar and many historic places of Pune. He has also published a book on Pune Darshan which is based on the paintings of Historic Places in Pune. Other series are on Varanasi, Nepal, Goa where he has personally visited and painted on the spot landscapes, amongst which the most famous one’s are the Nandi Series.
Nandi this word means alot to Indian Culture, Religion and Mythology. It plays a vital significance with relation to all the above. In India mostly being an Agrarian country the Nandi plays a very important relation with the farmers and a festival is celebrated as a mark of Respect and Thanksgiving to the Nandi as for their support given in reaping the yields the farmers get every year.
Mohan has been allured with this festival from childhood and he brought this grandeur on paper with colours, the decored Nandi looks so fascinating, adds pomp to as many of the cultures and festivals a part of our history.
Nandi- Seen from different aspects and vision is revered differently ,viz the children get fascinated with its colour decoration of painted horns and answering the questions asked by tilting its head upwards and downwards for a ‘Yes’ and sideways for a ‘No’
Women -When a ‘Nandi’ comes at the door for blessings to be showered on them get mesmerized, when they actually visualize Lord Shiva coming over to bless them riding on his Vahana – Vehicle the Nandi.!
Mohan as an Artist gets all excited to assimilate the beauty of the decorated Nandi- in its fullest e.g. The coloured horns, with metal motifs hung, and in the end of each horn is the dangling wollen entwined tassels , swaying to its tune are the bells and colorful beads hiting on each other and making a blissful sound putting oneself in complete trance..body smeared with with colours allures Mohan as an Artist to bring this grandeur to visual ecstasy! By painting on paper with water colours…he could bring out each of the above used materials explained with its actual textures to be a complete realistic impressionista!
The Nandi series was Internationally applauded and was also from then on recognized as Mohan an Artist who paints the “Nandi” socially! and a sequenced quilt placed astride on the Alpha back. These details are very beautifully coloured which bewitched the spectators.
Meet the New Genre Artist Mohan Jadhav a friendly, socially adapt and one who carries a Gamut of Imagination to leave you – Wonder Stricken wanting for more !.
